Homes of Hope

/actionboy.jpgHarwood Homes is proud to be a supporter of Homes of Hope

Homes of Hope believes that children and young persons at risk are a community problem requiring a community solution. In partnership with government, the private sector, community agencies and grass-roots community we are convinced that together, we can make a lasting difference in these lives, and those of their families. Your support is critical to positive outcomes for them.

girldancing.jpgWhat Homes of Hope offers children in need:
    • A physical environment that 'belongs' to the children as long as they need it.
    • Consistent care that is governed by policies and procedures based on best practice.
    • An opportunity to form warm, supportive and unconditional attachments with a limited number of caregivers who have been screened extensively and trained and who are accountable to Management, the Trust and the referring agency.
    • Encouragement to develop relationships with their biological families whilst remaining within the care of Homes of Hope.
    • Unconditional love and hope.

Hilary Jean Price - CEO

hilary.jpgBeing a founding Trustee of Homes of Hope has indeed been a most extraordinary and wonderful journey and privilege!

Experience in both the education and welfare sectors has provided me with a background and sensitivity to serve the dream of effect positive and proactive provision of services to the foster care arena. Qualified in both primary and early childhood teaching, and studying social work practice, I have also had experience as a business entrepreneur, been an adventurer (blue-water sailor - navigated three oceans) and founded "James House" - a home which cares for 20 at risk children incorporating a Life-skills programme in Cape Town, South Africa. I have served on the National Executive for the Christian Early Childhood Association of Aotearoa and have served as contract lecturer to Bethlehem Tertiary Institute. I love children and am passionate about children and families, justice and education. This passion to partner with families and service agencies in the provision of high quality best practice care for children and young persons at risk drives me to exact the best possible long term outcomes for our clients.  I am continually challenged to explore the boundaries of transparent partnerships to affect the best outcomes for those we serve.

I am happily married to a fantastic creative, supportive and wise husband, Jon, and we have three wonderful children - Lindsay, Alex and Ben.  We lead a busy, abundant life with a capital 'L' and rejoice in the journey we are on!

I hope you will join with us to further the dreams, aspirations and healing of many precious children and young persons and their families. Holding onto courage and a dream that together we can make a lasting difference – I feel confident that, with your help, we can do this one child at a time – one family at time – one community at a time.
