Our Values

The following paragraphs were taken verbatim from Kirsty Harwood's speech made on winning a premier award at the Tauranga Business Awards, 2007.

"Most people have a vision, goals and values they base their life upon. Harwood Homes began as David Harwood Builders in 1988 with a vision of Dave and I building our own home... that was it!

A French author by the name of Antoine described creative vision quite poetically, saying:

"A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral."

Our little cathedral complete, we found others who wanted homes like our own and we began to believe it was possible we just might be able to make a living out of doing what we were passionate about. With our combined skills - Dave, a qualified tradesman and myself, in banking and finance - we had a good start. From there, we gradually built up skills and brought people into the business with other skills we needed for growth. Now, our homes are bigger and better than ever with over 20 years experience behind us!

1. Have a clear vision: Our aim is to provide you with a home of such quality and unique design that it will last you for a lifetime of living, whatever your lifestyle changes.

2. Develop Goals and Strategies: Everyone needs goals to motivate them to looking beyond what their present capabilities are. At Harwood Homes we are constantly striving to find ways to improve designs, systems and processes to continually raise the bar on our homes and the industry in general.

3. Base the company on values we hold fast to: Keeping to standards of excellence - building you a home of long lasting value using the highest quality products and materials available and ensuring we have the best team of tradesmen possible.

Placing importance on our relationship with you by getting to know you and your needs, providing you with many different options such as flexibility in design; one of our set plans, on our land or yours (building anywhere in the Bay of Plenty Region and some parts of Waikato) or a custom designed home specific to your lifestyle. After all you spend a lot of time in your home and it is one of the biggest financial investments you will make in a lifetime, you want to get it right!
